Uttar Pradesh is known to have the most fake universities according to UGC records in northern India. In a recent development, The Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur has circulated notice to 600 colleges for voilating the norms of NRI Quota allocation for B.Ed programme.
It was found that large number of seats reserved for NRI quota were allocated to general candidates, breaching the norms of the university. This discrepancy in allocation was observed after the commencement of Joint Entrace Examination (JEE) held in 2007-2008.
Government has reserved 15% seats for NRI’s in B.Ed programme, and it is one of the most popular and prestigious course in the state.
