Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have decided to provide online question bank and online test facility for its students. The database of question bank will be based on Higher Order Thinking System (HOTS) , a concept by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to develop analytical and logic building skills of the students.

After the implementation of this scheme, students of KV’s will be able to assess their analytical skills by taking online tests of themselves. The automated test will randomly pick questions from the question bank and will present it to the student. A complete test report will also be generated after successful completion of the test.

This methodology of online tests will help students prepare better for various entrance examinations.

To encourage and increase the healthy competition among students, Chandigarh government has gifted laptops to two government school students who have topped in class 12 in their city. Pankaj Kumar and Lakshay Manchanda have been chosen by the government to receive these rewards. One is from urban area and the other student is from rural area, to balance the distribution of the prize among all sections.

It is the first encouraging move of gifting laptops to toppers in India by the state government, and is welcomed by the education fraternity. Pass out percentages of government schools in Chandigarh have always been high ( 85+ percent in both 10th and 12th).

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has announced to offer tele-education services to all its broadband subscribers. Subscribers will be able to avail this new service at a nominal rent of 250 Rs/ month.

The service will feature relaying of educational programmes and distribution of study material for engineering, management, medical and other competitive exams.

As the Internet penetration is increasing in the country, services like tele-education are opening new channels for the youth of this country, to get more relevant and more exhaustive information related to their studies.

Students, especially small children almost loathe about the daily homework assigned to them. The young minds sometimes envy their own teachers as they come in the classroom, teach and leave – no homework, no tests and no assessments. That may be true but not in the coming era where teachers themselves have to prepare a lot before coming to the classroom.

The textbook and dictation age is a thing of the past. Modern teaching aids like audio and video presentations demand more preparations from the teacher. Teaching lessons are increasingly being provided on compact discs and digital video discs, and the content on the same is either viewed in the class or by the student at home. The teacher has to be sure to identify the main points or emphasize on these points so that children can assimilate the knowledge.
