In the developed countries, erstwhile education systems have been supplanted with modern ones enriched with the technological innovations and teaching aids. In developing countries also, the introduction and integration of technology and communication systems has received major attention.

The latest development in this regard has been observed in the schools in African countries, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania. To counter the challenge posed by teacher shortage many schools in these places have installed mobile phone services and e-learning solutions to aid the students and teachers.

The bottlenecks in education, as are seen in India are similar to those mentioned above. Therefore ICT (Information and Communication Technology) can play a major part in spreading the education to places that are located in distant villages. E-learning in India can play a major role in educating the masses who cannot be reached by other means or channels.

   In cities, the norm is that there should be at least one school in a radius of one kilometer. Though schools are scattered all over      the cities and may be dominantly present in some key areas, but in villages and small towns their frequency is quite less.

   Apart from helping the education to spread to the distant corners, the advancement in information and communication systems will further improve the quality of the education in the country. Newly established schools, especially in city-centers have a number of equipments and facilitation centers to give the students better learning environments.

Computer education is also getting popularly integrated in the school course curriculum. A large number of schools have upgraded their curriculum at the primary and secondary level to include computer education.
