How to Open ICSE School in India
ICSE was established in 1958 with the guidance and support of the Inter- State Board and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate. The ICSE Board was registered under the Societies Registration Act No. XXI of 1860.
ICSE prevails in all the commonwealth countries. An ICSE School gets international recognition and acknowledgement. Since, ICSE has such a strong focus on English Language. Opening an ICSE school is not just about constructing the physical infrastructure i.e. building classrooms or setting up libraries and laboratories. It also involves procurement of permissions and licenses from the concerned educational authorities at different stages. The process of opening an ICSE School in India starts with the setting up of a trust or a society, with a governing board including approximately five or six members (president, chairperson, secretary).
ICSE on the other hand is one of the two examinations conducted by yet another board, CISCE or Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. It is similar to AISSE conducted by the CBSE. Its (CISCE’s) equivalent for AISSCE is the Indian School Certificate or ISC.
Indian Certificate of Secondary Education provides an examination of general education through the medium of English and the standard of the examination presupposes a 10 years duration school course for Classes I-X. ICSE Board grants both permanent and provisional affiliation depending upon the need and requirements of the particular school.
The process to open an ICSE School involves affiliation that includes the following steps:
- · Submit the application to the ICSE Board
- · Obtain No Objection Certificate form the state department
- · Submit the required documents
- · Council will process and verify all the documents
- · Council will provide affiliation (if satisfied)
But, before opting for ICSE Affiliation, you should also take into consideration the factors like land and requirements, recruitment of the teaching and non-teaching staff, marketing, advertising and publicity of the school etc.
Opening an ICSE School will also help in defining the standards of education in India. The ICSE Schools just need to follow the rules and regulations set by the Board. There are some specific set laws, rules and regulations that control the terms and conditions of school affiliation.
