Committee to Look into Student Grievances in Gujarat

Students of two medical colleges, NHL medical college and BJ medical colleges have ended up their two day strike after the state government assured that a high level committee would be set up to address the grievances of the students. Students got agitated and started an indefinite strike two days prior after hearing reports that Common Entrance Tests for post graduate medical courses were not being properly conducted.

The state government has announced the name of the members of the committee, which will be headed by Dr Kanubhai Kalsariya. Other members of the committee would be Dr Bhalodiya, dean of Gujarat University's medical faculty, Dr AT Leuva, dean of Baroda Medical College, Dr Vikas Sinha, dean of Jamnagar Medical College.

The concerned students are not very happy with the state of affairs at the moment. The students have also alleged that the authorities have used force and repressive measures against the agitating students.

Student bodies have threatened that if student grievances were not properly addressed then all medical colleges in the state would go on an indefinite strike. Health Minister, Jay Narayan Vyas, has requested the students to cooperate with the committee and when summoned say about their problems.
