English Lessons on Radio
According to a BBC report, primary school children in the state of Bihar
have been provided English lessons on radio. The school children tune in
to the broadcasting programme and receive instructions and lessons on the
radio. The programme, which is said to be launched by Bihar Education
Project in collaboration with US based organisation Education Development
Center and the US Agency for International Development, has been a big
hit in the state.
Bihar state is considered to constitute a large illiterate population.
Various national and international agencies have been engaged in
different initiatives and projects to improve the education standards in
the state.
Also, community radio and its role in the developmental process for
remote and rural communities have been given a great importance by the
government. Officials believe that the right media and the content can
bolster the education programmes. |
