The feeling of ‘good times are here again’. After all it’s festival time.
Dussehra is the day, when Lord Rama killed the demon, Ravana and won back his wife (Hence, this festival is also called Vijayadashmi).
Dussehra is also reminiscent of the end of the exile and banishment of the Pandava princes in the epic Mahabharata and their return with their weapons to reclaim their kingdom.
Vijayadashmi is also celebrated as a festival in honour of Goddess Durga; the Divine Mother who fought with demons led by Mahishasura for nine nights and killed him on the evening of the tenth day, known as the Vijaya Dasami.
Vijayadashmi is also the day of the Saraswati or the goddess of knowledge and learning.
