September 8 International Literacy Day / World Literacy Day

International Literacy Day

September 8 is recognized as International Literacy Day all over the world over. The day was recognized as a hallmark of literacy by UNESCO in order to lay emphasis on the need for education, the importance of educating the masses and the imperative growth process substantiated by the empowering role of Literacy in the lives of the common man.

Inspite of special emphasis being laid out by the Governments of the world on Education and its importance, there is still much left to be desired. According to a census conducted by the UNESCO, nearly 1 in every 5 adults is an illiterate adult, 75 million children are out-of-school and many more attend irregularly or drop out.

Shemrock Group of Schools is one such effort by the founders of the group, in the direction of spreading education among the masses and employing innovative yet interesting teaching techniques in order to garner more awareness in the public about the innovative methods being employed in the education sector. The Shemrock Group caters to the ever burgeoning problem of illiteracy by adopting a 2 pronged approach. The brand ‘Shemford’  is specially designed & aimed to cater to the Formal school segment whereas the brand ‘Shemrock’  focuses on the Pre school and Primary school segment of education.

Being a pioneer of sorts in the Education field, they have envisioned massive expansion plans and are looking out to further this goal by providing Franchisee options to interested parties.
